Kushla Chadwick: A Website Redesign

Months ago I was asked by a good friend and business woman Kushla, to spend a day shooting photos for her website redesign.

She is a mentor to entrepreneurs and a great public speaker and she wanted photos to reflect her personality and image. I think you could sum her up in one word, BUBBLY.

I helped to style the shoot and we planned around her vision for the day. We had such a blast and Kushla has the most infectious smile so it was so easy to get the images that she wanted.

If you want to see her new website you can go here.

Little brothers make the best baby dolls

The rhythm of life has resumed its comfortable beat within our home and our days are filled with what I crave, routine.

Its still school holidays here and heat waves are ravaging the country, so we have spent a great deal of time indoors with windows and blinds closed to keep out the severe heat. When we ventured out into the great wall of heat it was only to swim or to drive to another location with air-conditioning.

It is so funny to watch Ella interact with her brother and he has now become her most beloved and played with toy. She loves that boy fiercely and even when he hurts her she pretends to be upset but then continues to play as before.

Granny Smylie and a little friend

This is my Granny Smylie. Jane Lillie Smylie.

She is my Mother's Mother and she hails from the North of Ireland but lives in Adelaide and we made sure that she had some quality time with us but most importantly with her great grandson, Noah.

Although she has lived in Australia for a large majority of her life, a strong Irish lilt fills the air like a melody and stories of her youth are free and flowing.

Like my Nana Soininen, she was smitten with the little man! So much so that he ended up indulging in a majority of her blackforest cake. I loved seeing two very important people in my life connect with each other.

Of course all photos with me in them were taken by my love, Regan.

Adelaide: A Reunion of Friends

After we indulged in the serenity for a week in Kangaroo Island, we caught the ferry back to Adelaide, the place of my birth and my youth and adolescence.

I had the opportunity to catch up with friends that I had left behind reluctantly, 3 and a half years ago.

I tried not to take my camera everywhere as I wanted to soak in all of the laughs and moments and capture them in my memories.

I did have to take out my camera on this particular day as we met with several friends in a park and I had an itch to create.

As soon as we got there, the ladies and the men, almost on auto-pilot, separated and although I have no idea what the men discussed, we discussed photography and babies. I think sometimes it is an instinct of mothers to tell their birth stories. It is a moment that is so monumental that no matter how different the stories, we can all relate.

As we chatted away, the kids played make-believe and I made the rookie mistake of pretending to be a zombie and got chased with sticks and other make shift zombie-killer weapons.
